Dannis Ree, your posts helped me pass the time in an unfulfilling job (I have since moved on to much greener pastures, thankfully) but I just wanted to thank you for your words and your food experiments, however absolutely bonkers and downright concerning they have been. Cricket looked liked a little angel cat. I know she's resting easy in paradise now. So sorry for your loss. Sending you and Davida lots of love. <3
Sorry for the loss of your beloved Cricket. Enjoyed reading your tribute to her. My Shadoe (Shaddy) passed on November 9, 2018 and I was blessed to have her for 21 years. She loved Delectables Tuna & Chicken Bisque for seniors.
It’s been a year and a couple weeks since my Leila crosses the rainbow bridge, and this brought just back so much of her. Thank you for your generosity in sharing Cricket’s story with us.
I have my own beloved moggy who has tugged me through my own share of incredibly shitty times and I nearly lost her last year (a neighbour was putting down poisoned meat to kill foxes. She got arrested. My cat nearly died a slow and horrendous death) but - somehow - she pulled through. I was lucky enough, in that moment, to get a perspective on how much I loved and needed her and how empty my life would be without her.
It crushed me.
Maybe you'll think I'm dumb, but I read your post about Cricket to my girl, Green. She blinked a lot and asked for treats and then went all catnip crazy before falling asleep again. I guess that's the appropriate response.
Be sad. Be heartbroken. Be together. Write everything down. And know that, in the crazy web of connections that is the internet, there are loads and loads of people sending you both wild amounts of love and cats making tiny chirping sounds tonight.
Dennis, I hope this isn't weird. But your blogs have gotten me through some tough times. I’ve read the Pizzle multiple times, and am currently a paid subscriber and am so grateful to be able to help support your writing that has brought me so much entertainment. I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves stuffed animals and is a full grown adult!
Reading about Cricket’s passing brought me to tears. I am so sorry that you lost her. She was honestly one of the cutest cats I’ve ever seen, and your eulogy to her was beautiful. I hope you and Davida allow yourselves to fully grieve. Too many people see a pet pass and go “they’re just animals”. They aren’t, they’re our friends and our family. Best wishes to you, and thank you for sharing your life and your talent for bringing a smile to so many faces.
Dennis - I'm so sorry for your loss. There's nothing like the bond with a pet, and I still find myself thinking about and missing ones that passed many years ago. So glad you had each other in your lives. -Dan
All cats are lovely, and Cricket was an especially good one. My condolences, DANNIS REE.
And keep your heart open; good ones show up when THEY'RE ready.

RIP cricket. You made us all laugh and dream. Thanks for keeping Dennis going when times were darker.

Dennis and Davida,
Everything Steph there said and this:

Much love to you both from the UK,
Lou xx
Thank you, Lou, that means so much to me. I'm learning how to navigate this grief.

It's not weird at all! The support from you is so wonderful. I'm grieving but this is so hard.
This is a beautiful tribute. I am so very sorry.
