When you say "clam dog" my mind conjures an image of a chili dog but replace the chili with really thick New England clam chowder. You know, just in case you wanted more recipe ideas.
Among all the other things I'm grateful for here, I'm particularly grateful for knowing that I shouldn't be pronouncing geoduck like it's a Pokémon anymore.
As a coastal ecologist from Massachusetts I guess this was pretty par for the course for my life, although on a smaller scale (given it's a Pac NW clam.) You should definitely have steamers - you have the opportunity to peel off multiple tiny "socks". I wonder if batter made for fried whole belly clams might have worked better (a better batter).
You so crazy Dannis!! 🤡 BUT the burning (ha oh and sorry ouch) question still on everyone’s mind (who’s never been to the Pacific Northwest, much less anywhere in Asia...yet) how does geoduck meat taste compared to say, normal clams? The descrip of flavors of the thinly sliced pieces read more like salty salad, lol. But does it taste anything like a clam? I’ve always wanted to try it, assuming it tastes like a big giant clam because clams are top 3 on my personal delicatory list. I could live on them (and kinda did when Howard Johnson’s was still around or I could still get cherrystones by the lb). Can’t wait for the next installment to hear about that BD flavor!!! (Also bravo Davida!)
Absolutely tastes like a clam! It's still quite shellfishy, but I like that flavor. The belly had a much more concentrated flavor, though, like super clammy. If you had it prepared properly and you tried it, you wouldn't mistake it for anything else. Its form factor is just like...uh, a little swollen.
Right. I saw a special 10yrs ago on geoduck ‘clamming’ in Oregon and my mouth just watered at the thought of ALL THAT CLAM in one um...giant clam. I see them in sushi joints but I needed more to go on than ‘trust us, it’s a clam!’, lol. Thank you-it sounds divine, and from a palate I KNOW I CAN TRUST! I’ll just let someone else prepare it. 😏
You really circumcised clam dick and had it flood sweet hot clam juice into your mouth. 10/10, no notes, can't get this kind of bullshit anywhere else
I have sacrificed my career for you

What else would go on it? Oyster crackers and hot sauce? I...
I need dinner ideas!
Oyster crackers, hot sauce, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese?
You neglected to mention that the geoduck is the mascot of Evergreen State College and has a song: The "fight song" of The Evergreen State College.
So named because their mascot is the revolting mollusk, the geoduck.
The school's motto?
Omnia Extares
Let it all hang out.
(words and music by Malcolm Stilson, 1971)
Go, Geoducks go,
Through the mud and the sand,
let's go.
Siphon high, squirt it out,
swivel all about,
let it all hang out.
Go, Geoducks go,
Strech your necks when the tide
is low
Siphon high, squirt it out,
swivel all about,
let it all hang out.
I guess if I was on the team and that song was my rallying cry I'd probably step off the field and never come back

BUT THEN IT WOULDN'T BE A CORN CLAM DOG...would it?!
❤️❤️❤️ Steamers!! Be still my heart. And tummy!
Oh and fried clams, which I could happily exist on forever. ❤️❤️
I almost spit out my coffee at "isn't nature amazing?"
I had no idea degloving was part of the culinary prep for geoduck! I'm equal parts disturbed and fascinated.
Signed. As a fellow writer, I hear you and am hoping for the best.
Now to read the stupid food part. :P
Thank you for signing!!!
Just submitted the letter.
Keep up the good work yo! I laugh at (almost literally) everything you write.
Thank you for signing! Every bit helps!
Someone should write a little ditty about sucking on a clam dog
Guilty! I was totally giggling. And then again when you called it out.

Carry on! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The fried clam dog looks like an angry face 😠 😂
Geoduck nachos? Is that what we're in for next? Damn, whatever it is will be a treat.
Sounds like you need a splatter guard for frying, it's still unnerving with the vat of molten oil but it does keep the mess down.
